The weather was fine and whilst the spectators had a picnic lunch, or one of Thyme by the River’s excellent dishes, the celebrities were treated to a fantastic spread prepared and served by the Vecchia Roma Italian Restaurant. The match started around 2:50 with the Bunbury team opening the batting.

Please feel free to bring a picnic, or have something to eat and drink at Thyme by the River, the new Café at the ground. There will also be a hog roast on the go.
There will be drinks available at the Club, two club bars on the ground and on the Bombadier bus, Bunbury’s main sponsor.

Celebrities expected on the day includes The Weasley Twins (real names Jimmy and Ollie Phelps), Phil Tufnell, Rupert Young from TV’s “Merlin”, Mal Loye, John Salako, Mick Harford Joe Kinnear, and many other names from the sports world.
On the day the club will be re-instating an old challenge first laid down when the Touring Australian Test side visited the ground in 1953. The challenge is to hit a ball from the square onto Taggs Island, a distance of 130 yards. To date no one has ever achieved the feat, but with the advent of modern bat technology you never know. The prize for hitting the ball onto the island is the original 1000 guineas offered. The ball must stay on the island for the time it takes to retrieve it!
The game is being played for the benefit of three charities, The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, Dementia UK and the Bunbury’s favoured charity the English Schools Cricket Association.
Please come and have a great time at the club, and help us raise lots of moneys for Charity.
